Geneticists Geneticists need many skills. One of the most important is to be able to ask questions. Another is to correctly organize data. In the way of training, one should major in biology, genetics, and many other biosciences. A bachelor degree can get a job, but I myself would advise getting the highest amount of bioscience education possible. Jobs can be acquired by asking your professors, but, they may not be aware of any need for geneticists. Many times, reading advertisements may of some good. You may even make an appointment with biology and genetic firms yourself. Sometimes clinics or hospitals may even need a genetic specialist. I, myself, could also see a geneticist opening up his own clinic, such as radiologists do. In this way they could be able to make more money considering the amount of highly specialized geneticists with a Doctor of Medicine. The current payment outlook is not good for geneticists. A starting geneticist working makes between $19,000 and $27,000 a year. Salaries, depending on experience, training, and success may be above $54,000 a year. Benefits usually include pension plans, health insurance, and paid holidays and/or vacations. The employment outlook is very good. Some, highly trained geneticists can open their own firms. This is probably because of a recognition that mutations may be able to strengthen our immune systems, raise our endurance, or even other things not thought possible. Most geneticists work in clean laboratories and work between thirty five and forty hours a week. They usually have the necessary equipment given to them by their firm or other supporter. I feel this would be a good career for me because of my inquisitive nature. I have always been intrigued by the altering of DNA to cause mutation. I am also extremely interested in the evolution of different species.

External Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service operates seven days a week, for next day service garments have to be submitted to the Housekeeping department prior to 0900hrs of the previous day. The same applies to express cleaning services. The unit is highly dependant that the service provider delivers the garments at the contracted times. Shortfalls in service by the contractor would lead to customer dissatisfaction. The current late booking trend could be advantageous for the hotel management to counteract additional last minute bookings by closing all room type availability. Although this measure would result in loss of room revenues it would limit the burden on the operation and safeguard the reputation of the company. Additional manpower could also be attained through management personnel, who could temporally abandon their roles and assist in the housekeeping department in order to maintain housekeeping services. In the worse case scenario, whereby industrial action is paralysing the operation, arrangements to relocate guests to other hotels in the vicinity would be the only option available. Q7b Capacity Management Capacity Management in terms of the service industry can be categorized in terms of facilities, labour and equipment. Unlike manufacturing operations, in the service industry the success of a hotel operation is linked to its use of room capacity and the rates charged per room. Matching of capacity and demand is a challenge for any hotel operation. This is partly due to the fact that most hotel services cannot be stored in the form of inventory. Occupancy levels vary according to seasonality and can vary drastically from one day to the next in terms of excess or insufficient demand. When a hotel room is not sold on a particular day the revenue lost can never be regained, this is referred to as perishability factor. The maximum capacity will be defined by the total number of bedrooms whereas the optimal capacity will relate to the maximum number of clients that can be served at the desired level of service. Capacity management therefore involves certain trade-offs between the objective s of profit maximisation and operational cost efficiency. The housekeeping department has little to no input into maintaining business levels, as this area is covered by Yield departments, namely Sales and Reservations. Therefore, the primary objective for the Housekeeping department is to ensure that all vacant rooms are serviced in preparation for an eventual sale. Additionally, on high demand days, procedures allow quick turnarounds to allow room to be sold more than once thus maximizing revenue. Labour is the most variable source of a service provider. Business levels and activities within the hotel will be a defining factor as to how much staff are required each day. Therefore, the housekeeper will use business forecasts when preparing working schedules for her department. As mentioned previously maximum output levels within an eight hour day are governed by a maximum number of rooms that can be allocated to each team member. Concessions to the 16 room allocation are :- New team member has joined the company and is undergoing training on the ten step process. The three month probationary period for new team members whereby number of rooms allocated is less until they are able to work productively at the required levels of cleanliness. Following scheduled maintenance when deep cleaning process is conducted in rooms, a time span of 2 hours per room is calculated. Equipment As the hotel has its own laundry par levels of bath and bed linen is set at three. Stock takes are conducted on a monthly basis to monitor and control stocks and re-order levels. When items in stock reach the minimum levels and requisition is submitted. All requisitions are channeled through a computerized inventory management system. Erich Fromm's Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem In "Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem," Erich Fromm (1963) argues that society will self-destruct without achieving freedom through disobedience. Fromm begins with analogies of Hebrew and Greek mythology showing how disobedience to a god freed humans. Using this correlation, Fromm shows freedom as a condition for disobedience, and vice- versa. Therefore, Fromm proclaims that without disobedience the human race could destroy itself within a generation. Fromm’s article, first published in 1963, stems from fear of a third world war. Despite the â€Å"outdated† comment by Behrens and Rosen in the introduction, the article still applies to suggestion human nature during the War on Terrorism. Fromm (1963) Fromm predominately uses logos, with underlying pathos (appeals to emotions) when discussing religion. Fromm adds a section near the end about Hitler’s right hand man, Adolf Eichmann, which seems out of place. However, in 1963 the reference to individual players of the Holocaust such as Eichmann probably equates to the 21st century usage of Cindy Sheehan. The flow of Fromm’s article lacks logical arguments while ignoring religious values of his biblical examples, especially Adam and Even. Believers of both Judaism and Christianity believe God created everything including man and woman. First, God created man (Adam) to live in the Garden of Eden, and then woman (Eve) from Adam's rib for companionship. Title Beowulf, an epic poem, was written around the ninth century A.D., and was also written in Old English. Beowulf was authorized by a Roman Catholic Priest, which is acknowledged due to numerous references to the Bible. Beowulf, the main character is a mighty warrior with great pride and concern for his fellow comrades and The Land of the Geats. Throughout the poem there are several challenges that Beowulf has to confront. The first is the battle with Grendel, a horrific monster, because he has been terrorizing the Geats. Beowulf defeats Grendel in the battle but has to face another one with Grendel’s mother who wants to get revenge for the death of her son. Beowulf finally defeats Grendel’s mother. In the third battle Beowulf has to fight a dragon that has wreaked havoc on the Geats society due to a servant that had stolen a golden goblet from his home. The dragon was defeated with the help of a young kinsman, Wiglaf, but not before biting Beowulf in the neck and eventua lly destroying him. Although dying, Beowulf was glad that he had won the treasure for his people. The second poem is Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which is a romance written about six hundred years ago. The author is known as the Pearl Poet. This poem is a moral allegory, which means that the poem is glorified in a way, but also represents a moral idea. This poem is about a knight that has to go and find the Green Chapel where a Green Knight lives and respectfully get his head cut off just like he did to him. This called the ‘Beheading Game†. Both of these poems characters illustrate right living, the consequences of failing to live rightly, and the rewards of it. In the poem â€Å"Beowulf†, Beowulf illustrates various ways of how to live rightly. The first is when he went out by himself to conquer Grendel and Grendel’s mother.
